History: Charles Palumbo's wrestling career has come a long way in only a short time. Palumbo started his 'training' in the US Navy, serving as a plane captain. After serving his time in the field, Palumbo opted to come to the WCW Powerplant, training under "Mr. Wondeful" Paul Orndorff, among others. He began to appear on WCW television during the start of 2000, wrestling on WCW Saturday Night and various house shows, as well as dark matches at Nitros and Thunders. This helped Palumbo start to hone his skills as a wrestler, even as a storyline was worked out for him to make his big "debut" as a force in WCW. Palumbo would get his chance soon after Eric Bischoff & Vince Russo took over the federation, creating a faction against the veterans called the New Blood.

At Slamboree '00, Lex Luger competed in a match against New Blood member Buff Bagwell, in which Luger's girl, Elizabeth, helped him win with a shot with a bat. After the match, though, Luger was surprisingly attacked by Palumbo, who knocked him out with a muscle flexer. The next night on Nitro, Palumbo came out to Luger's music, calling himself "The Main Event". He challenged Luger to a match that night, but it turned out to be a trick from Vince Russo to get Elizabeth taken away from Luger (while Palumbo attacked him). The next week, Elizabeth had to face and defeat Rhonda Singh (an enormous woman) to return to her man's side. Luger interfered, putting Singh in the Torture Rack. But while Elizabeth and Luger were celebrating after the bout, Palumbo again attacked, nailing Elizabeth with the muscle flexer, then taking out Luger as well before Elizabeth was again carried to the back. Later that night, though, Luger brutally beat Palumbo during his match against the Hardcore Champion, demanding to know where Elizabeth was. Palumbo was later saved by R & B security, who maced Luger. The feud continued for a few more weeks, but broke down before a PPV match could be signed when Luger & Elizabeth walked out on WCW due to storyline disputes.

Palumbo would next become a tag-team competitor, joining up with "PerfectShawn" Stasiak, who also had been impersonating a wrestler, Curt Hennig. Becoming the Perfect Event, the team also united with other young wrestlers to form the Natural Born Thrillers, a unit of the New Blood, which included Mike Sanders, Mark Jindrak, Sean O'Haire, Reno, Johnny the Bull, and other growing superstars. The Perfect Event hit the big time quickly, as they managed to take out Kronik (Bryan Adams & Bryan Clark), after aid from other members of the New Blood, and became the WCW Tag-Team Champions. They would hold the belts for over a month, trying to stay away from the rage of Kronik, but finally had to face them at Bash at the Beach '00, Palumbo's first official PPV match. Although the Perfect Event fought hard, Kronik was too much, eventually taking out both men and winning the belts back. The Thrillers would next begin feuding with the Filthy Animals, who had been R&B's previous enforcer group before they broke away. The Thrillers also turned on their former trainer, "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, attacking the older wrestler. The Filthy Animals made the save, increasing the tension between the two groups and leading to a signed match at Fall Brawl '00.

The Elimination match at Fall Brawl '00 was made between the Natural Born Thrillers and the Filthy Animals (Rey Mysterio Jr, Konnan, Billy Kidman, Disco Inferno, & Tigress), Orndorff, & Big Vito (who had been turned on by Johnny the Bull). At first, troubles between the Filthy Animals gave the Natural Born Thrillers the advantage, as Disco Inferno accidentally hit his Last Dance finisher on Konnan, allowing O'Haire to get the first pin. Disco then had to stay in the ring, as none of the other Filthy Animals would tag him. Big Vito even went as far as to slug him, allowing Reno to get the pin and take him out. Vito & Reno then fought for a while, with Reno knocking out Vito with a kendo stick and eliminating him. This made it 7-4 odds, but Mysterio & Guerrera brought their team back, double-teaming Reno and eliminating him with Guerrera's Juvi Driver. O'Haire again took control of the match, though, hitting his Seanton Bomb on Juvi and pinning him. Orndorff came into the ring, though, and showed that he knew everything that the Thrillers had learned, taking out Johnny the Bull with a Piledriver. But shortly thereafter, when attempting another piledriver, Orndorff seriously injured himself, and had to be carried to the back, ending the match as a No-Contest.

At the next Nitro, Palumbo, Jindrak, O'Haire, Sanders & Stasiak faced off against the two Filthy Animal survivors, Rey Mysterio Jr & Tigress. Despite the odds, the two Animals persevered, and eventually came out on top, a humiliating defeat for the Thrillers. Still, things improved for the team in later days, when "Coach" Kevin Nash began helping them towards the top of WCW. This gave many inside the stable a boost, as Nash would help them get the victory when able. But the Perfect Event immediately began to have problems, as Stasiak's attitude towards Nash gradually worsened. Meanwhile, the Thrillers started a feud with the M-I-A, a group of wrestlers who had been 'fired' by Bischoff, only to return under militeristic names. At Halloween Havoc, Palumbo & Stasiak came out after Reno had defended the Hardcore Title, beating Sgt. A-Wall. The three men beat on A-Wall until back-up in the form of Lt. Loco & Cpl. Cajun arrived. This started an impromptu tag-team match between Loco & Cajun and the Perfect Event, with the size advantage clearly favoring Palumbo & Stasiak. However, growing tensions between the two wrestlers worked against them, and when Palumbo accidentally hit Stasiak with his jungle kick, Loco & Cajun capitalized, getting the victory.

After the PPV, it soon became clear that Stasiak was becoming the outcast, while Nash and the rest of the Thrillers were backing Palumbo. When Stasiak betrayed Nash, attacking him during a World Title shot against Booker T, it looked like the Thrillers were about to take out Palumbo's former tag-team partner. This turned out to be a farce, however, as Palumbo and the rest instead turned on their "coach" and going out on their own, starting a brutal feud between them and the 7' Nash. Thus back together, the Perfect Event returned to the top of the tag-team division, defeating Alex Wright and Elix Skipper (subbing for the Disco Inferno) to win the belts for the second time. This put them directly in the sights of Nash and his new partner, Diamond Dallas Page. The InSiders soon came after the Perfect Event's belts, pitting experience against numbers. At WCW Mayhem, the two teams met up, with the rest of the Thrillers trying to interfere, dressed up as security. They were stopped, though, by CEO Ric Flair, leaving the Perfect Event on their own. Although Palumbo & Stasiak tried to pull it out, they were unable to overcome the InSiders, and after a Diamond Cutter and a Jackknife Powerbomb, Nash made the pin and took away the belts. The reign was quickly reversed the next night, however, as Commissioner Mike Sanders pointed out that Nash had not pinned the legal man. CEO Flair was forced to agree, giving the belts back to the Perfect Event.

The war between the Thrillers and the InSiders continued for the next month, with numerous brawls between the two groups. A rematch between the Perfect Event and the InSiders was signed for Starrcade '00, with CEO Flair once again trying to ban the rest of the Thrillers, and most especially Sanders, from ringside. It didn't work, but while DDP kept the Thrillers occupied, Palumbo was taken out by Nash's Powerbomb and pinned, causing his team to lose the tag-team titles. This caused a minor power change in the Thrillers, as Palumbo started teaming up with Sean O'Haire, while Stasiak united with Mark Jindrak. Determined, and with a new partner, Palumbo started challenging the InSiders, wanting another crack at the tag-team titles. He got it at the first event of '01, WCW Sin. Earlier in the night, the Thrillers tried to aid Sanders in his Commissionership match against Ernest "The Cat" Miller, but were stopped by Kronik. This made things look bad for Palumbo & O'Haire, as they no longer had the Commissioner aiding them. Still, Palumbo & O'Haire fought hard against the InSiders, with the Thrillers coming to ringside during the match as well. Nash still had the upper hand, though, until Buff Bagwell & Lex Luger came to the ring, surprisingly taking out Nash with a wrench shot. O'Haire then hit his finisher, the Seanton Bomb, to get the victory, earning Palumbo the WCW Tag-Team Titles for the third time.

The Thrillers celebrated the victory as a major moment in their group's history. The win, however, caused jealousy to blossom from the other team, Mark Jindrak & Sean Stasiak. Tensions flared between the four teammates, and eventually caused the Natural Born Thrillers to splinter into various groups, as Jindrak & Stasiak demanded their shot at the belts. They got it at Superbrawl: Revenge, in a furious battle between the two formerly-allied teams, with Palumbo & O'Haire taking on the role of faces. Near the end, a hurting Palumbo made the hot tag to O'Haire, who charged in and took control. After a superkick, O'Haire finished the match with his Seanton Bomb, making sure that his team retained the tag-team straps. Palumbo & O'Haire next began feuding with Totally Buff (Luger & Bagwell), who claimed that they were the #1 Contenders after beating an injury-plagued Kronik at Superbrawl. After repeated skirmishes between the two groups, a match was signed for WCW Greed. At the event, O'Haire & Palumbo surprisingly dominated, tearing into the two wrestlers and quickly dismantling them. A Seanton Bomb less than a minute into the match sealed Totally Buff's fate, making Palumbo & O'Haire seem that much more dominant. The champions had one last test to get past in the Turner-ran WCW, as they were booked to defend the gold against Lance Storm & Mike Awesome of Team Canada at the Season Finale in March '01. In another spirited bout, Palumbo & O'Haire again came out on top, hanging onto the WCW World Tag-Team Titles as the federation came to a close.

Near the end of June '01, the WCW Invasion had begun, with numerous WCW stars appearing in the WWF. During a WWF Tag-Team Title Tables match between the Dudley Boyz (champs) and the Hardys, Palumbo & O'Haire reappeared on the wrestling scene, attacking the remaining wrestlers in the match. O'Haire even hit the Seanton Bomb on a fallen Matt Hardy. But Palumbo & O'Haire then had to face the wrath of the WWF locker room, who had grown tired of the run-ins. The WCW Tag Champs tried to escape through the crowd, only to run into more wrestlers. With the odds being 20-2, there was no way for Palumbo & O'Haire to fight back, and they were badly beaten before being thrown out of the building. The team would get their revenge at the next Sunday Night Heat, though, ambushing the APA, the leaders of the attack, at WWFE New York. The next week, Palumbo & O'Haire made their first defense of the tag-team titles, beating Shawn Stasiak & Kanyon.

As the WCW Invasion grew in force, Palumbo & O'Haire became major factors, building up their feud with the APA. The two men were involved in several brawls between the factions as the PPV grew closer, and were part of the WCW team that turned on the WWF group and joined up with the resurrected ECW faction, making their Invasion even stronger. A match was later signed for WWF Invasion between the two tag-teams, pitting the champions against one another. A lot of hatred was shown during the fight, as Palumbo & O'Haire fought hard for the victory. Unfortunately, in the end, Bradshaw nailed Palumbo with the Clothesline From Hell and got the cover for the victory. Palumbo & O'Haire may have lost some momentum, but expect them to work to get it back in the coming weeks, possibly continuing to go after the WWF Tag-Team Champs.
