History: (Last Updated: 6/09/2006)

The Beginning
OVW: 2004 / 2005
WWE Raw: 2005 / 2006

The Beginning

Nick Nemeth began his wrestling career in high school, as he was an amateur wrestler for St. Edward High in Lakewood, Ohio. Nemeth set records at the school, earning 82 pins in his amateur career. Obviously, he was heavily recruited, eventually ending up at Kent State University, where he once again was a tremendous amateur wrestler at 165 pounds, becoming the winningest wrestler in the university's history. On the night he got the record-setting win in January '03, Nemeth helped lead the 23rd-ranked Kent State team to a major upset over the 15th-ranked Northern Illinois University. He was named the MAC Co-Wrestler of the Week. Kent State eventually finished fourth in the MAC Championships that year, only behind Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Ohio. Nemeth was named to the All-MAC First Team roster. Nemeth later wrestled at the NCAA Championships that year in the 165-pound division, but he lost to Tyrone Woodley, 7-2. Later on, in the "Wrestle-back" portion, Nemeth won over Jason Gilligan 7-5. Nemeth finished with 121 career victories at Kent State, a very prestigious number, as only 3 other individuals had gotten over 100 victories at the university.

OVW: 2004

After finishing off his amateur wrestling career, Nemeth opted to sign a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment in 2004. He debuted late in the year at Ohio Valley Wrestling, the minor-league organization that helped train the new wrestlers. After learning the ropes of his new profession, Nemeth began appearing on OVW Television at the beginning of November '04, teaming up with Steve Lewington to take on M-N-M. Unfortunately for Nemeth & Lewington, M-N-M was too strong, getting the victory after a Snapshot on Lewington. Afterwards, M-N-M went to whip Nemeth & Lewington with their belts, only to have Ken Doane (who was feuding with them at the time) make the save. That was Nemeth's last appearance in 2004, however, as he went back to practicing his skills inside the squared circle.

OVW: 2005

Nemeth returned to the tag-team ranks with Lewington at the beginning of the year, as they took on the Heartbreakers (known as the Heartthrobs in WWE). Although Nemeth & Lewington put up a good fight, they got hurt late by the ref's decision during a four-way brawl to concentrate on Lewington, sending him back to his corner. Nemeth was quickly double-teamed by the Heartbreakers, getting taken out and pinned by Romeo Roselli. Nemeth then again disappeared from OVW Television for a month, finally returning for a 6-Man Tag with Ken Doane & Seth Skyfire against Vik Delicious, Robert Fury, & Da Beast. Although Nemeth took some damage during the match, as the heels concentrated on the rookie, he eventually made the hot tag to Skyfire, with the faces then winning the melee that followed and getting the win following a Skyfire Flying Legdrop on Fury. It was Nemeth's first TV victory in OVW.

Nemeth had his first singles match at the beginning of March '05, when he took on the Blueprint (Matt Morgan). Nemeth got a lot of love from the fans, greeting them on his way out to the ring. But he got no respect from the Blueprint, who choked him and used various maneuvers to domintate the rookie. Nemeth tried to rally late, but it was too late, as he was slammed and pinned by the masked giant. Nemeth next wrestled a few weeks later against Mike Mondo, with Nemeth having to worry about Kenny Bolin & Ms. Blue at ringside as well. Late in the match, Blue distracted the referee, as Bolin threw his briefcase to Mondo. Nemeth grabbed Bolin, then dodged the swing from Mondo. Although Mondo stopped just in time to avoid hitting Bolin, Nemeth kicked Mondo's head from behind, knocking BOTH into the briefcase! This allowed Nemeth to then pin Mondo, getting a major win for his OVW career.

Strangely, after the victory, Nemeth once again vanished from OVW television, not appearing throughout April '05. He reappeared at the beginning of May, taking on Aaron "The Idol" Stevens. It was a very competitive match, with the ending being partially decided by Stevens' valet, Beth Phoenix. Phoenix grabbed Nemeth's legs when he was going for a top-rope maneuver, distracting him long enough for Stevens to catch him and deliver a top-rope neckbreaker for the victory. Afterwards, Stevens & Phoenix continued to beat down Nemeth, until Danny Inferno made the save. Nemeth's next actions in OVW were during the OVW Television Title Tournament. Nemeth faced off against Paul Birchall in the first round, with Birchall introducing himself to Nemeth before the match. The two put on a strong wrestling display, with Nemeth nearly winning after a huge DDT (Birchall barely reached the ropes during the pin attempt). At the end, Birchall reversed a Nemeth Crossbody, getting the pin and eliminating Nemeth from the tournament.

In June '05, Nemeth looked for another OVW singles win, going against Osama. But the match ended early, with Lance Cade chasing off Osama and delivering a DDT to Nemeth, ending the match in a No-Contest. A few weeks later at the end of the month, Nemeth teamed up with Chet the Jet to take on Osama & Da Beast. Nemeth & Chet worked well together at first, but at the end, Nemeth was thrown from the ring by Osama, allowing Chet to be double-teamed and pinned, gaining Nemeth another defeat in OVW. Nemeth & Chet continued to work together going into July '05, with Nemeth surprisingly shaving his head, possibly to gain an advantage in the ring. They took on Robbie Dawber & Vik Delicious, with Nemeth managing to fight off a double-team at the end and roll up Dawber for the pin, getting a much-needed victory.

A week later, Nemeth teamed up with Chris Cage to take on newcomers Danny Doring & Roadkill. Once again, the ref proved to be a factor in Nemeth's matches, as, while Cage was being physically sent back to his corner during a melee, Nemeth was double-teamed and pinned after being hit by a Death Sentence maneuver. Nemeth next appeared at the Six Flags Summer Sizzler Show at the beginnning of July, when he took on Paul Birchall. Surprisingly, Nemeth got the victory, starting a mini-feud between the two star wrestlers. Nemeth and Burchill fought again at the Six Flags Summer Sizzler Show in the middle of July '05. After a series of near falls, Nemeth got the big win by reversing a Fireman's Carry into a DDT for the pin. Afterwards, though, a tired Nemeth was ambushed by the Boogeyman and taken out. On the next OVW TV Taping, Nemeth was scheduled to wrestle against Ken Doane. Doane, though, angry over a Randy Orton spot that had just played, caught Nemeth coming into the ring and delivered his own RK-Doane, knocking Nemeth out! The match never started, as Doane gloated over Nemeth, mocking Orton.

At the July 29th Six Flags Summer Sizzler Show, Nemeth competed in a "Love Your Enemy Battle Royal", where the two final entrants in the match would compete together later in the night against the Tag-Team Champions, the Blonde Bombers. Nemeth was able to eliminate Aaron "The Idol" Stevens at one point, but soon was tossed himself, with Seth Skyfire & Paul Birchall winning out. Nemeth then went back to feuding with Doane throughout the month of August '05, wanting revenge on the Television Champion. The two faced off at the last Six Flags Summer Sizzler Show of the season, with Nemeth trying to take away Doane's championship. Nemeth took it to Doane during the match, but the outside interference was too much, as Nemeth had to deal with a briefcase-wielding Kenny Bolin. This allowed Doane to get the RK-Doane for the victory, pinning Nemeth to the mat.

Nemeth still continued to gain momentum in OVW, getting an OVW Heavyweight Title shot against Johnny Jeter in the middle of September '05. Nemeth came close on a number of occassions to winning away the gold, but Jeter used deceit near the end, pulling the ref in front of him to block Nemeth's Superkick. Jeter then spun around the ref and delivered a Superkick of his own to get the win, keeping Nemeth from the championship. Despite the loss, Nemeth's spirits had to be going up, as he was called up to World Wrestling Entertainment shortly thereafter.

WWE Raw: 2005

Nemeth appeared first on Heat, where he became the caddy of Kerwin White (Chavo Guerrero Jr). White's nemesis, Shelton Benjamin, thought this was appropriate, as White now had someone to wash his balls for him. On the last Raw of September '05, Nemeth was in White's corner against Benjamin, and helped him get the victory. Afterwards, Benjamin attacked White, but Nemeth made the save by knocking out Benjamin with a golf club! For the next few weeks, Nemeth & White feuded with Benjamin, with most of their matches airing on Heat. The two made a strong team. However, tragedy struck in November '05, when White's uncle, Eddie Guerrero, passed away suddenly before a major show. Chavo Guerrero quickly discarded the "White" persona to honor his uncle, even as Nemeth, now without an ally, faded back to OVW for the next few months, waiting for his next big break.

WWE Raw: 2006

In January '06, Nemeth surprisingly joined up with other OVW wrestlers Mike Mondo and Nick Mitchell, forming a group of cheerleaders called the Spirit Squad! The group soon managed to bring in two more members, Johnny Jeter and Ken Doane, forming an interesting fivesome. On the January 23rd, '06 edition of Raw, Jonathan Coachman was scheduled to take on Jerry "The King" Lawler in a match to determine which man would earn a spot in the Royal Rumble match. During the bout, Lawler was dominating the Coach, when, surprisingly, the Spirit Squad made their first appearance on Raw, announcing themselves as Nicky, Johnny, Kenny, Mikey, & Mitch! They were able to distract Lawler long enough for the Coach to get the win, then did a cheer for the Coach afterwards. The Spirit Squad later appeared at the '06 Royal Rumble, doing a cheer before the Rumble match (which wasn't well-received by the fans). For the next few weeks, the Spirit Squad split its time between OVW and WWE, feuding with Brent Albright & CM Punk on the one side while doing cheers on Raw.

In the middle of February '06, the Spirit Squad did a special cheer for Shawn Michaels, as he was being forced to retire by Vince McMahon. Michaels refused to quit, though, causing Mr. McMahon to personally guarantee Michaels would be put through hell! The next week, the Spirit Squad was given its first Raw match by Mr. McMahon, who made a 4-on-1 Handicap Match against Michaels (McMahon quickly stated that 5-on-1 would be 'overkill'). Nicky, Kenny, Johnny, & Mikey were the participants, with Mitch on the outside. The group soon showed their prowess with a trampoline, using it to his some devestating moves on Michaels. Near the end, though, Michaels landed some Sweet Chin Music on Mikey, then went for the pin. But Mitch quickly entered along with the rest of the Spirit Squad, causing the DQ as they beat down Michaels, with Michaels' old tag-team partner, Marty Jannetty, returning to make the save.

The Spirit Squad continued to be the supporters of Vince McMahon in his feud against Michaels over the next month, cheering him on to victory. They also continually appeared on OVW Television, still honing their craft as high-flying cheerleaders. In March '06, the Spirit Squad were put in a "Texas Tornado Steel Cage Handicap" Match against Michaels on Raw, due to Michaels having thrown urine on Vince & Shane McMahon. It was another 4-on-1 Match, with Mitch outside the ring. Michaels fought hard, nearly escaping the cage, but Mitch slammed the cage door on him, keeping him inside. Later on, Shane McMahon proved the biggest factor, entering the cage and attacking Michaels from behind, before getting the Squad to pin him for the victory. Afterwards, the Squad cheered on Shane as he gave Michaels a Van Terminator.

The Spirit Squad gave Shane a huge cheer on the next Raw for his 'victory' over Michaels at Saturday Night's Main Event #32, with a proud Vince promising victory over Michaels at Wrestlemania as well. The next week, the Spirit Squad had their first non-Michaels match, as Kenny, Johnny, & Mikey took on Val Venis, Eugene, & Viscera. The Squad used their dirty tactics to perfection in the match, with Nicky & Mitch helping out from the outside. In the end, the Squad got the victory, then added injury to insult when Kenny hit a Flying Legdrop on Venis' arm, putting the Big Valbowski on the shelf. It was a big win for the Squad, as they had put themselves on the mat and taken out a major contender in the tag-team ranks at the same time.

At Wrestlemania 22, the Squad ran out to help Vince in his "No Holds Barred" Match against Michaels. However, despite the overwhelming numbers, Michaels won out, destroying Vince and leaving him a bloody mess in the ring. A day later on Raw, the Spirit Squad was still given a reward from Mr. McMahon for trying to help, as Kenny & Mikey took on the Raw World Tag-Team Champs, Kane & the Big Show. Thanks to the rest of the Squad coming in and helping out on a huge Spirit Slam on the Big Show, Kenny & Mikey got the pin, upsetting their opponents and shockingly becoming Raw Tag-Team Champions! It was soon announced that the belts belonged to the entire Squad, which meant that any two of them could defend them at any time. A week later, Nicky & Johnny defended in the rematch against Kane & the Big Show. While the Squad kept the belts, it was a painful victory, as Kane lashed out with chair shots, causing the disqualification.

A week later, after Shelton Benjamin had lost a match against Charlie Haas (which put his IC Title on the line against Rob Van Dam at the next PPV), Benjamin begged to Mr. McMahon to do something about the problem. He appealed to McMahon's growing God complex, which led him to agree to the proposal, setting up a new match: Van Dam vs. the entire Spirit Squad! Although RVD fought hard against the numbers, it was just too much, as the Squad took down Van Dam and got the pinfall victory, which put RVD's Money In The Bank Contract up for grabs at the PPV as well (RVD later won the match at the IC Title). The Squad hit the big time the next week, as they got themselves put in a 5-on-3 Main Event Match against John Cena, Edge, & Triple H (all of whom were currently feuding over the WWE Title). It was a good contest for the Squad, but it ended badly, with Cena & Triple H both getting their finishers before ending the night brawling, with the match being thrown out.

At the PPV, Backlash '06, the Squad once again did not get a match, as they were saved for other matters. During the Michaels/"God" vs. Vince & Shane McMahon Match, the Squad ran down to interfere, only to get jumped on by Michaels, who was on top of a ladder. Still, the numbers were too much for Michaels, as the Squad got the upper hand, then delivered a huge shot to HBK, giving him the Spirit Slam through a table! Vince then got the pinfall victory for his team, with the Squad hoisting Vince & Shane on their shoulders afterwards. As a reward for their actions, Mr. McMahon gave the Spirit Squad control of Raw the next night. The Squad announced that, after a drawing between the group, Kenny had earned the right to face John Cena for the WWE Championship that night. Meanwhile, Nicky, Johnny, & Mikey teamed up to win over the team they dubbed "The Odd Squad", Gene Snitsky, Goldust, & Eugene. Later on, Nicky joined the rest of the Spirit Squad in trying to help Kenny win the WWE Title. But the actions of first Triple H, then Shawn Michaels, as the referee kept the Squad from getting the gold, with Cena getting the FU on Kenny for the win.

A week later, the Spirit Squad, looking for some revenge, took on Cena & Michaels in another "Handicap" Match. The match was a tough one for the Squad, as they were facing two strong athletes. But numbers won out in the end, as Kenny took Michaels out and got the pin for the victory! Afterwards, Kenny shockingly knocked out the referee, then grabbed the man's belt, using it to whip Michaels repeatedly to the cheers of the rest of the Squad. Triple H then came out, possibly to make the save, but Cena was already clearing the ring of the Spirit Squad, which allowed Triple H to get the Pedigree on the champion instead, giving the Squad something to savor.

On the next Raw, Nicky & Johnny defended the Raw World Tag-Team Titles against Goldust & Snitsky, with Mikey & Mitch helping from the outside. In fact, Mikey proved to be the deciding factor, as he came over the ropes (via trampoline) and got a massive Bulldog on Snitsky while the ref's back was turned, then put Nicky on top of him, allowing Nicky to get the pin and retain the Raw Tag Titles for the Spirit Squad. Later on, the Squad was banned from ringside, when Kenny took on Michaels, with Shane McMahon as the special referee. The Squad had to watch from the back as Triple H 'accidentally' knocked out McMahon with his sledgehammer, ending the match in a No-Contest.

The next week, after Triple H apologized to Vince, another "Handicap" Match was set up, putting the Spirit Squad against Michaels. Mr. McMahon wanted so much bloodshed that he called off the referee, saying that there was no need. Once again, Michaels battled hard, and once again the Spirit Squad's numbers were too much, with Kenny focusing his attack on Michaels' leg, trying to break it by doing an elbow drop onto it with a chair! Triple H then came out, under Mr. McMahon's orders, but seemed reluctant to use the sledgehammer on HBK, causing Kenny to take the sledgehammer from him to do it himself! But when Kenny went to swing, Triple H got into his path. Kenny, not worrying about it, tried to swing at the Game, but Triple H took him down with a Spinebuster, then took out Nicky & the rest of the Squad, saving Michaels and almost surely burning the bridge between himself and Mr. McMahon.

The next week, Mr. McMahon put Kenny against Triple H in the main event. McMahon also gave Kenny an advantage by arranging for the rest of the Spirit Squad to be at ringside as well, calling it a "Spirit Jack" Match. Not surprising, the rest of the Squad didn't go after Kenny when he was sent outside the ring, but tried to take out Triple H whenever possible. However, the Game somehow managed to fight off the crowd, catching Kenny with a Pedigree to get the pin. Afterwards, an upset Squad attacked Triple H, looking to take him out as they had Michaels (who was now out with a knee injury). Triple H begged off at first, but it was a stall, as he managed to pull out a sledgehammer from a hidden spot outside the ring and used it to take out the entire Squad! Mr. McMahon then appeared, announcing that Triple H would join the Kiss My Ass Club the next Raw.

Triple H and Mr. McMahon had it out on the next Raw, with Vince telling the Game that, if he could beat the Big Show in a surprise match, he would be free of the Kiss My Ass Club 'initiation'. However, this all turned out to be a set-up from the McMahon's, as, early in the match, when the Big Show was knocked to the outside, the Spirit Squad surprisingly ran out and attacked him, causing the DQ loss for Triple H! Afterwards, the Squad ran to the back, obviously only there to make sure that the Game didn't win. Unfortunately, the Spirit Squad wasn't on hand for the ceremony later in the night, as Triple H turned the tables on Shane and gave Vince a pantsless Pedigree.
