History: Article from PWI 2003 Wrestling Annual Magazine (Spring '04)

Michael John Lockwood, professionally known as Crash Holly in WWE and Mad Mikey in NWA-TNA, was found dead in the Florida home of Steven Richards on November 6th, reportedly of issues related to alcohol or drugs. According to the police report, Lockwood was found partially clothed with a pool of vomit around his face.

Considering his relatively small size, listed generously at 5'9" and 204 pounds, Lockwood had a surprisingly enduring career with WWE - a testement to his solid technical skills and overall showmanship. Lockwood first rose to prominence as Erin O'Grady, a popular leprecaun character in California's All Pro Wrestling. He became a trainer there, and was an inspiration to the APW rank-and-file once he achieved greater success.

Lockwood joined WWE as Crash Holly, the tough but dopey little cousin of Hardcore Holly, with whom he once held the WWE World Tag Title. He will be remembered for his 21 WWE Hardcore Title reigns (some of them lasting mere seconds) and for popularizing the 24/7 rule, which stipulated that a champion could be beaten at any time of the day or night as long as his opponent had a licensed referee with him.

WWE released Lockwood in 2003 and he made numerous appearances on the indy circuit, even participating in MCW's Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup, and joined NWA-TNA as Mad Mikey, a character similar to Crash - just with a shorter fuse.

"He was the biggest goofball," said his wife, Christeena, in an interview with North Carolina's Salisbury Post. "He was so funny walking up and down the ropes, doing things to make you laugh, and telling corny jokes."

Lockwood left behind a seven-year-old daughter, Patty.
