David Arquette has made many marks in the world of entertainment. He has had several starring roles in well-received pictures, from the Scream Trilogy to Beautiful Girls. He's known for his comedic timing, as well as his marriage to Courtney Cox-Arquette. He's truly a self-made star. But in the professional wrestling world, he's remembered for being a major part of one of the worst angles ever portrayed on national television, and for being a key factor in the destruction of World Championship Wrestling.

It all began in the year 2000. Arquette was one of the lead stars in the movie, "Ready To Rumble", which featured several WCW wrestlers, including Bill Goldberg, Diamond Dallas Page, Sid Vicious, and others. Naturally, Arquette helped out with the advertising for the movie, appearing with his 'co-actor' and friend, Page. Page, meanwhile, was in the midst of a feud over the WCW World Heavyweight Title, battling with Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett was backed by Eric Bischoff, the owner of WCW. On one Monday Nitro, Jarrett & Bischoff came out during one of Arquette's gigs and announced that Jarrett and Page would be facing in a 3-tier cage match, the same type of match that is portrayed at the end of "Ready To Rumble". When Page came out to accept the match, Jarrett attacked him, and Arquette came to his defense, getting into it with both Jarrett & Bischoff.

Bischoff then made a challenge to Arquette, saying that if Arquette could beat him in a match, Page would get a title shot that night. Arquette somehow managed the win over the black belt, thanks in part to a missed shot from Jarrett. Later on, Page made good on his title shot, beating Jarrett and becoming the champion. This led to a tag-team match being set up on the next Thursday Thunder, between Page & Arquette and Bischoff & Jarrett, with the person making the pin becoming the World Champ. At the end, Page seemed to have the pin on Jarrett, but at the same time, Arquette pinned Bischoff, getting the win and, unbelievably, becoming the WCW World Heavyweight Champion! This made the "3-Tier Cage" Match at Slamboree '00 a Triple Threat Match, with Arquette "defending" the title against Jarrett and Page. In another strange swerve, Arquette turned on Page during the match, helping Jarrett to win. Arquette then bashed Page on the next Nitro, talking about how he shouldn't trust anyone from Hollywood.

Soon afterwards, David Arquette headed back to Hollywood, where he resumed doing his true craft: making comedic movies. It was later mentioned in Ric Flair's autobiography that Arquette had secretly given away his entire WCW salary to various wrestling families that had undergone tragedy, proving, without a doubt, that even if he will always be known as one of the most unlikely World Title holders ever, he did have the heart of a champion.
